About the Institute

AI is rewriting development and research.
The Forewright Institute exists to make sure it is written well.

In the international development, non-profit, and research sectors alike, AI is entering every stage of the work, from designing programs and writing proposals to analyzing evidence and reviewing applications. The number of proposals submitted to the same calls are increasing exponentially, and funders are struggling to re-write the rules and cope with the new volumes. The professionals and institutions that learn to use AI well will shape what gets funded, built and discovered next.

The Forewright Institute exists to give professionals in the international development, non-profit, and research sectors the AI-integrated skills the decades ahead will require. It develops methods for using AI to its full potential in both fields, tests them in practice, and teaches them to individuals and institutions. Its work draws on fifteen years of experience as practitioners, applicants and evaluators, and on evidence from behavioral science and studies of AI use.

Its guiding principle: AI will raise the standard of research, non-profit, and development work, and of the proposals that fund it.
